$38.33 - $47.77/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement.  Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.


BC post-secondary institutions are working across the province to provide a common first year curriculum for engineering degree programs.  As part of this initiative, Northern Lights College requires development of two engineering courses.  These courses will become part of the program completion guide for NLC's Engineering Certificate.

This position consists of curriculum development for two introductory engineering courses.  For each course, there is an associated 90 hours for curriculum development for a total contract of 180 hours.  Applicants can apply to develop curriculum for one or both courses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for curriculum development as per the following deliverables and in accordance with the learning outcomes as laid out by the BC Engineering Articulation Committee:

  • Select an appropriate textbook;
  • Lecture content for each teaching session (approximately 26 lectures X 1.5 hr blocks per course);
  • Summary document highlighting take away points for each lecture;
  • In Microsoft Word format, assessment tools as per the course outline;
  • Course syllabus outlining instructor expectations, weekly schedule of when material is covered, assigned readings, etc.;
  • Annotated bibliography or reference material, as needed;
  • A list of required equipment, if needed, and
  • A list of required specialized resources such as software




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering;
  • Designation as a Professional Engineer;
  • Resident of Canada; and
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement


  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • North American based post-baccalaureate education.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education.
  • Experience instructing or developing curriculum at the post-secondary level.
