Classification 12, $25.54 - $26.33/hr, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees also receive an additional $0.50/hr. in lieu of benefits, as well as having 6% vacation pay paid out with each pay. There is scheduled time off between Christmas and New Year's Day that is unpaid time.


NLC is seeking an energetic team member to provide administrative assistance to a Special Project aimed at developing supported enrolment models to increase the take-up of the Canada Learning Bond and access to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). NLC is the lead for the project which is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada through Phase II of the Canada Learning Bond Grants and Contributions Pilot Project. This is a collaborative project between NLC, Coast Mountain College, CNC, UNBC and BC's Northern Credit Unions with a focus on building human capacity in Northern BC and increasing the probability of northern youth pursuing a post-secondary education.

As a key member of the project team this position will use independent initiative, judgement and discretion while supporting special projects and partnerships internal and external to the department. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to the project and for ensuring that key performance indicators for the department are both determined and met. The Assistant will support stakeholder meetings across Northern BC and will assist with all reporting to the federal government. As well, this individual will support process development and will provide ongoing administrative support to the project's team. Responsibilities will include preparing correspondence, data collection, tracking spending and ensuring the expense expectations set by the funder are met, which will include working with Credit Unions and other institutions to ensure that the in-kind spending is being accurately tracked and kept current.


In order for candidates to be considered, they will hold a post-secondary certificate in Office Administration, or a similar program from a recognized institution, or combination of experience and education - with at least four years of experience in a general office setting. You must bring with you to the position, effective interpersonal skills, a high level of accuracy, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders. The successful candidate will be able to handle confidential issues with discretion and diplomacy and will require excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in computer skills and using a variety of software programs, and virtual meeting platforms is a must. A valid Driver's License will be required. The selection process will include the successful completion of clerical testing.
