Classification 8 ($19,651.48 - $20,259.26 annually), as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Annual vacation of 59.50 hours is pro-rated and front loaded.  We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, as well as cover the basic medical services plan.  Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves.  Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 Jan 1st) of each year is paid time.

 

Description:

The primary responsibility will be to develop the student experience at NLC and to coordinate major student events including student orientations, financial aid award ceremonies and NLC Convocation ceremonies and socials. In addition to these events, this position is responsible for activities throughout the year that contribute to the student experience.  The operational base for this position is located in Dawson Creek, however there are may be Regional responsibilities attached to this role. The Student Experiences Officer will organize the elections for the Student Council, provide budget guidance to campus based Student Council Treasurer and will serve as the staff representative on the Dawson Creek Student Council. 

 

Qualifications:

A certificate or diploma in event planning with two (2) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  The successful applicant should have superior interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills; have the ability to make presentations to groups, multi-task, be able to build working relationships with other staff and departments, and be able to prioritize while meeting tight deadlines. A high level of energy and organization is essential for this position.  Must be able to demonstrate ability in the use of Microsoft Office (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Publisher).   Must have, or be willing to take, Food Safe and Serving It Right. Must be a self-starter and able to work with little supervision.
