Salary:

$62,740.00 - $74,525.00 per annum, as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement, with annual increments up to a maximum salary of $96,085.00. Instructional faculty employees receive 240 hours of vacation annually, pro-rated and front-loaded, based on FTE, as well as time off paid between the Christmas and New Year's Day period.  We offer an extremely competitive extended health and dental program, along with MSP (provincial health) coverage.    

Description:

 

 

Northern Lights College is seeking a full time instructor to be responsible for the delivery of the Hairstylist Foundation and Practicum programs according to the provincial Apprenticeship curriculum, as established by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) of British Columbia. Students who complete the NLC Foundation program are taught in a salon environment for the majority of their 990 hours and are credited with 300 work-based training hours.

The Hairstylist instructor will introduce the students to the basics of haircuts, styles, shampoo and scalp treatments, and are also trained to chemically treat hair using color and permanent treatments.

Qualifications:

 

 

The preferred candidate will have obtained the Red Seal certification in Hairstyling, with three - five years' of work experience. Candidates with professional certification with the ability to attain the red seal accreditation within a one year period will also also be considered.

 Candidates must be professionals who have strong communication, planning, and goal setting skills; be flexible; confident; a team player; and are committed to student motivation and achievement. Previous instructional experience and an understanding of Microsoft Office suite are preferred.

 This position is based out of our local secondary school, a successful criminal record check will be required for employment.
