Salary:

 

 

Classification 9 ($20,449.84 - $21,082.31 annually), as per BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Annual vacation of 59.50 hours is pro-rated and front loaded.  We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, as well as cover the basic medical services plan.  Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves.  Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 Jan 1st) of each year is paid time.

Description:

 

 

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the assistant provides front line client services and clerical and administrative support for the marketing, communications and recruitment team.

This role will support team members and projects, liaise with external vendors and agencies, and serve as the principal contact and coordinator for events hosted or sponsored by the department.  

The assistant will be responsible to plan itineraries for trips, make travel and accommodation arrangements, and manage financial responsibilities such as monitoring, reporting, and reconciling budgets (tracking receipts, preparing reconciliations for business travel trips, credit card submissions, etc.)

Qualifications:

Do you have strong attention to detail while maintaining a high level of accuracy? Perfect. You will definitely need this skill in your new role with us as a member of a lively and dynamic Marketing & Communications team!   You will also need to be able to demonstrate clear and effective communication, with the ability to actively listen and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships as these are critical attributes of this position.

Preference will be given to those candidates who possess a diploma in a related discipline, along with two years' experience; however, those who have an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.  Experience working in an agency or creative environment would definitely be an asset.  As well, the successful candidate will be required to have past experience in event planning (for both small and large groups), with the responsibility to balance the event budget.

The assistant to the Director must have an intermediate knowledge of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), and successful completion of clerical testing will be required in order to validate this.
