Salary:

$38.33 - $47.77/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement.  Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Description:

NLC requires an instructor to deliver English 230: Technical Writing during the Winter 2020 semester.  This course is required in the Land and Water Resources Diploma and serves as an elective in other program areas.  ENGL 230 transfers to other post-secondary institutions as per the BC Transfer Guide.

ENGL 230 will be delivered face to face on the Fort St. John campus.  The contract consists of 3.0 delivery hours per week plus 3.0 preparation hours for a total contract of 90 hours over a 16 week period.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Communications, English, or Master's degree in a writing-intensive discipline with substantial experience in professional communications (reports, proposals, technical writing, public engagement, etc.);  
  • Commitment to student motivation and success; and the 
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.

Preferred:

  • PhD in Communications, English, or degree in a writing-intensive discipline with substantial experience in professional communications;
  • Instructional experience in a post-secondary environment;
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education; and 
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students at the post-secondary level.
