Salary:

 

$38.33 47.77/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement.  Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Description:

The University Arts and Sciences and Related Programs at Northern Lights College offer a wide variety of courses to NLC students.  LAND 280: Introduction to Contaminated Sites is one of the required courses offered in the Land and Water Resources Diploma and it can be used as an elective in other programming.  This course also receives transfer credit at other post-secondary institutions.

LAND 280: Introduction to Contaminated Sites will be offered during the Winter 2020 semester, to be delivered face to face on the Fort St John campus.  This contract consists of 45 hrs of curriculum development starting in December, with an additional 90 hours for course delivery from January to April (3.0 delivery hours per week plus an additional 3.0 preparation hours per week).  The total contract is for up to 135 hrs.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • Master's Degree in Environmental Science,or in a closely related discipline;
  • Three years of work experience relating to a risk-based approach to remediation;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Collaborate as an effective team member.

Preferred:

  • PhD in Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline;
  • A related professional designation (such as P. GEO or P. CHEM);
  • North American based post-baccalaureate education.
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education.
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students at the post-secondary level.
