$38.33- 47.77 hourly starting wage, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement.  

Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.


NLC's Health Care Assistant Program requires an instructor to teach the lab portion of HCAT 124: Personal Care and Assistance.  The labs in this course enable students to practice care-giver skills that maintain and promote the comfort, safety, and independence of individuals in community and facility settings.

This temporary, part time position is based on the Fort St. John campus and spans 20 weeks. Weekly hours vary from 3.75 to 8, primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.



  • Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Current, full practicing license as an LPN or RN, with the BC College of Nursing Professionals;
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian Nursing experience with an emphasis on geriatric care in a multi-level residential care setting;
  • Completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma, or readiness to begin this program, or demonstrable success in teaching adult learners.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member;
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
