Description: |
Northern Lights College (NLC) is seeking to assemble an energetic team to provide the information and guidance to families in Northern communities regarding the student financial assistance funds that have been made available by the federal government through the Canada Learning Bond (CLB) program. This is a collaborative project between NLC, Coast Mountain College, CNC, UNBC and BC's Northern Credit Unions with a focus on building human capacity in Northern BC and increasing the probability of Northern youth pursuing a post-secondary education. NLC will be the lead for the project, which is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada through Phase II of the Canada Learning Bond Grants and Contributions Pilot Project. There will be three full-time positions and one half-time position hired to create this team, with locations in the following regions: Northeast - Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, etc., (1.0 FTE), Northwest - Terrace, Smithers, etc. (1.0 FTE) and the Northern Interior - Prince George, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie, etc. (1.5 FTE). As a key member of the project team the CLB Promoter will use independent initiative, judgement and discretion while creating new and innovative activities and events with project partners to increase utilization of the CLB and improve enrollment in post-secondary institutions throughout Northern BC. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs), CLB, matching fund programs and other government post-secondary savings programs in order to inform and advise youth on eligibility. The Promoter will coordinate, attend, and lead all CLB enrolment activities. The CLB Promoter will also be responsible for providing the administrative support to the program, which may include maintaining filing systems, data collection and storage, and working with internal partners to prepare all project documents such as proposals, presentations, and handouts. Responsibilities include tracking and monitoring project activities, deliverables, schedules and budgets. Travel within the northern region will be required, and will increase over the term of the project. |
