Classification 9, $43,403.05 - $44,745.42 annually (23.85 - 24.59 per hour,) as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Security personnel are also paid $0.65/hr for evening shift differential and an additional weekend stipend for shifts that are applicable. Annual vacation (119 hours) is pro-rated, and front loaded. We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits. Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory for all regular, full time support staff, with contributions matched by the employer. |
Description: |
The primary function of this position is to provide access to authorized users of College facilities, and to keep College property secure. This candidate will be a member of the facilities team and will be required to perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned during his/her shift. Monitor activity, patrol campus, provide information, direction, and security to the public, using tact and diplomacy are regular day to day tasks. This position will also be required to operate machinery and equipment related to the duties. The Campus Security/Maintenance personnel are expected to have the ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict demonstrating tact and diplomacy, having excellent interpersonal skills and being an effective team member. A supportive attitude to students and a firm commitment to fostering a student-centered environment are expected. |
Qualifications: |
Completion of grade 12 with formal security training (i.e. Justice Institute), current Occupational First Aid certificate and previous experience is required. The successful candidate must be bondable. This position requires our staff to hold a valid class 5 driver's license. Individuals must be able to work with minimal supervision and be physically fit. Preference will be given to those who have general maintenance experience. Front end loader experience is preferred (snow removal in winter months). |
