Salary:

 

$52,321.50 - $65,209.38 annual starting wage, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement (annual increments up to a maximum salary of $72,063.75). Vacation entitlement annually is 180 hours (pro-rated from hire date for current year), to be utilized for summer months (July and August) or Spring months (May and June).  Paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, and an excellent Benefit Package. 

Description:

NLC's Career and College Preparation program requires an instructor to deliver courses across NLC's Adult Basic Education curriculum. Subject areas include Computer Studies, English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. It is particularly important that the successful candidate be able to provide students with study-block assistance in Grades 11 - 12 science. Teaching assignments may include a mix of on-campus and online assignments.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree;
  • Ability to instruct across the Adult Basic Education curriculum particularly grades 8 -10; 
  • Demonstrable success as an instructor in a post-secondary teaching environment;
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • Experience with, and a strong understanding of, the Microsoft Office suite.

 Preferred:

  • Masters in Adult Basic Education, or a closely related field;
  • Ability to provide study-block assistance in Grades 11 - 12 sciences;
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential;
  • Experience instructing Essential Skills in a post-secondary environment;
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students; and
  • Experience in multiple delivery models, including face-to-face, video-conference, and online
